Booking me as your celebrant, rather than opting for a local authority registrar, allows you to have complete control over your day. We'll have met, either in person or via Zoom, several times in advance and I will have worked with you to create and rehearse your perfect ceremony. If you wish, this can include the story of your meeting, the details of your proposal and your hopes and dreams for the future. I can also ensure that my ceremony outfit complements your chosen scheme. These are simply not services any local authority can provide.
Celebrant-led ceremonies can take place almost anywhere: on a beach, in your own or your parents' garden or at your favourite landmark. The only limit is your imagination.
You'll be able to choose whatever readings and music you like. Registrar-led ceremonies can't include any religious content and registrars need to approve your choices in advance.
I only ever take one booking a day, so you’ll have my undivided attention and won't need to worry about being fashionably late. Registrars generally conduct multiple ceremonies and have to be sure of getting to the next one on time.
Many local authorities only take bookings up to a year in advance and won’t be able to tell you who’ll be conducting your ceremony. Once you’ve booked me, we can start getting to know one another and you’ll be able to tick another wedding task off your list.
As a former Deputy Superintendent Registrar, I'm the perfect person to advise you on marriage legalities. The legal requirements can be taken care of a few days in advance, with minimum fuss and no need to exchange rings. This can cost as little as £57.
With local authority registrars charging up to £900 for a ceremony in a licensed venue, independent celebrants aren't necessarily a more expensive option. When you consider what we offer - the guarantee that your wedding will be conducted by someone you know and like, a personalised ceremony and no time, venue or content constraints - I like to think that we're extraordinarily good value!
In the UK, my fees are as follows: £600 weekdays, £700 Saturdays and £800 Sundays/bank holidays. Following a no-commitment introductory meeting by Zoom, a deposit will be payable. The fee then includes a face-to-face planning meeting if you live locally or meetings by Zoom if not, a unique wedding script, a rehearsal, if required, and my attendance at your ceremony. Travel within a 25-mile radius of my Somerset base is included, with additional mileage charged at 40p per mile. If an overnight stay is required, this will be discussed with you in advance and billed at cost. Please contact me for my international fees.
